Your AI

Bring your favourite AI along.

Two ways in. Connect the AI app you already use to your notebooks, or have Nota run on your own API key.

With MCP

Your AI app works in your notebooks.

Ask ChatGPT, Claude or another AI app to read a notebook, write one up or add to it. It uses your own AI plan.

  • ChatGPT
  • Claude
  • Gemini
  • Any MCP app
  1. Paste one address into your AI app: notefriends.com/mcp
  2. Sign in and choose Allow. No keys or tokens to copy.
  3. Ask away. “Catch me up on the Lisbon trip.”
  • It reads your notes. It creates and edits only if you allow it.
  • It can’t delete notes. Every edit shows in the note’s history and can be undone.
  • Disconnect it any time from NoteFriends, and its access ends at once.

With your API key

Nota runs on your own key.

Give Nota your own OpenAI, Anthropic or Gemini key. Your provider bills you directly, and NoteFriends’ daily and weekly allowance no longer applies.

  • OpenAI
  • Anthropic
  • Gemini
  1. Open Usage and choose Use your own AI key.
  2. Pick your provider and paste the key.
  3. That’s it. Nota’s work in that workspace’s rooms runs on it.
  • One key per workspace, on free Personal and Team workspaces.
  • Only the workspace’s billing owner can add, replace or remove it.
  • Remove it and Nota goes back to NoteFriends’ allowance.

Its work lands where everyone can see it.

What your AI app writes goes into the notebook, next to everything else, and your friends or team can build on it.

Your AI app

Use our launch notes to draft the announcement.

Done. The draft is in your Friday launch notebook, next to the plan.

Neither is needed: Nota is built in. You can use both at once.

How it stays safe.

Connecting an app
  1. Your AI app
  2. You sign in and choose Allow
  3. Your notebooks

The app gets its own approval, never your password. It sees only notebooks you can open, and ends the moment you disconnect it.

Your API key
  1. Nota
  2. The key vault adds your key
  3. Your provider

Your key is sealed in a key vault: a separate, locked part of NoteFriends and the only part that can open it. The rest only ever shows its last four characters. The vault calls only your provider’s model endpoints, so the key can’t be used for anything else.

Tip: make a key just for NoteFriends and set a spending limit at your provider.

Questions.

Do I need either?
No. Nota is already part of NoteFriends.
Which models does Nota use on my key?
She picks one for each job from your provider: a quick model for small decisions, a stronger one for replies and research.
What if my key stops working?
Nota can’t answer until the key is replaced or removed. She never switches to NoteFriends’ AI on her own.
Can my AI app see everything?
It sees what you can see, including notebooks shared with you. It can’t delete anything.
